John Deere has announced that it has launched electric One-Touch MulchControlTM, which is specifically designed to allow operators to instantly change between side discharge mowing and mulching with the press of a button. Ultimately, customers will be able to reduce downtime and boost productivity with this new feature.

"When we asked how we could make lawn care even more convenient and easy for our customers, we thought, 'what's easier than a push of a button?'" said Mark Waldvogel, Product Marketing Manager for John Deere. "Operators can go from mulching to side-discharge mowing without interruption – allowing operators to attain a beautiful and healthy lawn faster.”

One-Touch MulchControl is compatible with Accel Deep™ mower decks on John Deere X300 and X500 Select Series™ tractors. In mulch mode, the feature regulates clippings dispersion and prevents them from accumulating in areas, such as driveways and landscape beds.

One-Touch MulchControl works using a heavy-duty baffle that opens and closes to convert the mower from side discharge mode to mulch mode, or vice versa. When the baffle is open, most material flows freely out the discharge chute. When it is closed, material stays inside of the deck, where it is chopped into mulch.

Mulched lawn clippings can act as a natural fertilizer, promoting lawn growth. In addition, it can protect grass from drastic temperature swings and help it retain moisture.
